MUSLIMS IN KYALAMI, BEAULIEU & SURROUNDS

Asalamu’alaykum Ahlan wa Sahlan wa Marhaban

This blog has been started for many a reason which will be detailed later, but primarily for the following reason. I am an odinary South African Muslim who is residing in a typical Islamic Suburb in Gauteng. Currently, i am contemplating relocating to Kyalami, more specifically Beauliue…..’ yes, we enjoy the laid back farm life’ .

The primary concern though is that Kyalami & Beauliue for that matter, is very different from the close knit Muslim community we are use to & more importantly very far from the closest  masjid. The lack fo access to a Masjid/Musallah and a madrasah for  kids is of primary concern. Whilst i am aware, that there are projects planned aound the vicinities of the Midrand Areas [ Noordwyk Masjid, The Sama/Turkish project on the k101 (Old Pretoria Rd), Masjids in the Waterfall developments], none are of close enough proximity, nor any where near completion to make them viable options for daily attendance of salah or madrasah.

Compounding this is, a none familiarity to the area & its Muslims residents, if any. Hence, the initial aim of this blog is to familiarise ourselves with other ‘like minded’ Muslims from the Kyalami, Beauliue, Vorna Valley, Blue Hills, Glenferness & surrounding areas who share the same concerns for themselves and their kids and wish to address this important issue.

Ideally, this blog should serve as a catalyst to greater things like the establishing of the a Musallah/Masjid & other  religious requirements for a Muslim community. In Time to come the need for this will only grow and perhaps NOW is the time  to contemplate our future. Like me. i am sure there are many of you out there who have ideas and thoughts on the issue at hand…also, to serve as a census for muslims in the area and also ascertain as to wether other muslims would be intersted in a project of this nature.

Thus, i ernestly appeal to you to forward your comments and suggestions in the ‘comment section or perhaps you have an idea of the number of muslims in the area or maybe just even lend a hand of moral support..Look forward to hearing from you.

The obvious question? why is the blog called ‘Qurtubah Institute’?…..Wait until the next post….

Until then ….ma asalamah
